Information about Rebecca
Hi, my name is Rebecca and I have set up my own tutoring business to help support primary, secondary and adult learners. I am a creative tutor who enjoys helping others become knowledgeable and understand Mathematics, English, Art and Art History. I have experience working with Special Educational Needs and disabled students and I believe learning should be fun and creative as well as educational! I want to be knowledgeable and share this knowledge with others.
Availability: Tutoring hours are currently Mondays to Fridays and Sundays (09:00-12:30 and 13:30-20:00). I also work Saturdays (08:00-12:30).
Tutoring times include school holidays, bank holidays and Christmas holidays.
Please contact me if you need a particular time. Lessons are booked on a first come first serve basis.
Please note there are some days I am closed (for religious reasons)
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I worked with Maths Doctor between 2011 and 2017 providing on-line tuition in Mathematics at primary and secondary levels as part of a busy team. This has led to setting up my own business for student demand. I have experience of providing support for 11+, foundation GCSE (including iGCSE, EdExcel and AQA exam boards mainly at foundation level) and SATs examinations (Key Stages 1, 2 and 3). I have tutored a little in functional skills. The position has involved assisting gifted and talented, Special Educational Needs and Disabled students and low ability pupils.
Before this I was employed for 3 years in a local primary school helping mixed ability pupils learn to read through phonics, spelling and comprehension and kinesthetic learning. I also taught Numeracy in group and one-on-one sessions. This involved becoming knowledgeable of various learning programmes and thinking creatively to meet students needs. During this time I also tutored students privately offering home tuition.
Between June and July 2010, I participated in Edgehill`s Student Associate Scheme assisting and supporting art and technology teachers at St. George`s High School, Walkden, Manchester. I have led an Aim Higher session encouraging Key Stage 4 pupils to develop professionally by going to University and to continue to aspire.
2007-2009 as a Student Leader for Salford Young People`s University, I instructed Key Stage 4 pupils, at Manchester Academy, in art activities to maintain an ASDAN award. I also worked within a team environment providing assistance to other team leader sessions. Through Key Stage 3 summer schools I have directed art activities (including "Team T-shirts" and "What is Art?"), additionally supporting students discover the right course. I have also demonstrated and taught jewellery making to 150 pupils in the past.
More recently, for a very short time I worked with The Independent Art School offering Art History lessons on-line. I also currently work as a supply teaching assistant with PK Education and Protocol.
All this has led to setting up my own tutoring business. I feel my experiences and love for creative learning, supporting established schooling in new, innovative ways will hopefully offer students a renewed love for education.
