Information about Nandita
Hello! My name is Nandita and I have just completed my undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Hertford College, University of Oxford. I completed my GCSEs at Mayfield Grammar School (Gravesend) and my A-levels at Westminster School (London).
Availability: Very flexible - I can work to your timetable!
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I believe that my strength as a tutor lies primarily in my empathy in my ability to understand the motivations and unique needs of my student, and tailor lessons accordingly. Previous roles involving mentoring students of all ages have developed this skill considerably. I also believe that my ability to break down complex concepts and ideas into easy and understandable chunks will be invaluable, both in terms of learning the subject matter as well as in understanding the right boxes to tick with exam questions.
I have now amassed over 50 hours of tutoring experience. My most common lessons are GCSE maths, 11+ maths and Oxford interview preparation (for Philosophy, Politics and Economics), although I am comfortable tutoring in all subjects listed above and am open to any special requests.
Previous mentoring experience includes:
- Acting as a young leader at a girl guiding unit throughout sixth form
- Conducting outreach work for Oxford University, where I advised applicants on their personal statements, and worked to build interview confidence
- Managing a team of 20 undergraduate students from the University of Nottingham, as part of a Bank of England research project in my intermitted year at University. I recruited, trained and managed these students, who were working part time alongside their studies.
A-level Grades: A*AAA in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and English Literature
GCSE Grades: 11A* grades in Maths, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, History, French, Spanish, Religious Education and Information Technology. I achieved the highest GCSE grades in my year at school.
Feedback For Nandita (1)
The girl sounded bubbly and cheerful on the phone. My daughter had one lesson with her, and told her that she wont be able to attend the following week. Contacted her later to find out when she could tutor my daughter but never received a reply after several phone calls and texts. I found that really unprofessional. At least she could have let us know that she couldnt continue with the lessons, if it was getting too much for her. A little consideration would have been good instead of being ignored.
My grandson didn`t really hit it off with some of his school teachers. He has been involved in Academy football for a number of years and this is where he sees his future. These two factors meant his grades were not good coming into his GCSE year. In an effort to improve we enlisted help from Nandita with his maths. We found Nandita to be reliable, understanding and helpful. More importantly Jacob got on so much better than he did at school and seemed to build confidence in maths in his ability in general. He is half way through his GCSE`s at the moment, having completed one of the maths papers. We are hopeful of him getting a decent grade and would like to thank Nandita for all her hard work and patience with him.
Nandita has simply been superb in assisting my son with GCSE Maths. Nandita from the outset has been really flexible with times, has instilled much confidence in him so that he is doing really well. Nandita has shown her ability to be creative in her approach and is nurturing. A superb tutor and I highly recommend Nandita.
