Information about Linda
Hello! I am a patient, friendly tutor with years of experience teaching students of all ages, with a proven ability to stretch high-potential students and inspire struggling ones. I take a calm, well-prepared approach to lessons and am especially focused on building confidence and improving grades.
I build good rapport with students and offer support in primary English and Maths, SATS and 11-plus. I majored in Creative Writing at University.
Every student is different and I tailor lessons to individual needs, including dyslexia, dyspraxia, processing issues and autism.
What I like best is seeing students get that lightbulb moment when they say, "ah, I get it now!" so I give lots of explanations and examples which clarify and consolidate learning and understanding.
I started tutoring 11-plus after helping all three of my children achieve outstanding results. After that I went back to school myself to graduate with a First Class Hons in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Westminster in London. While I was there I had fun studying ten different Shakespeare plays in ten weeks, volunteered for various charities, and won an Excellence Award for Outstanding Achievement two years running.
