Experience: I was Head of Subject at Aquinas College which has been an ‘outstanding’ Communication and Culture Department for nineteen years. The Department consistently achieves some of the best exam results in the country for this subject. My subject area is viewed by AQA as a centre of excellence. The most recent OFSTED report described me as ‘an outstanding teacher who is ‘dynamic’ and ‘charismatic’ and I achieved (as in every inspection) a Grade 1 status.

In 2004 I sought a new challenge through diversifying my activities and taught English Language and English Literature to GCSE at Princethorpe School in Rugby for two years where I helped to secure achievement of the highest possible standard for my students. As an experienced professional I assessed and educated a series of ‘low achieving’ groups banishing the fear of failure which resulted in an unprecedented rise in value added scores. I have extremely high standards of pastoral care and consequently I have had the pleasure of mentoring hundreds of students. At Princethorpe School my appraisal commented upon my ‘outstanding work in the realm of pastoral care’ and my, ‘versatility, vitality and upbeat vibrancy…lively humour, warm affectionate and caring rapport’. It further stated that I had been an ‘absolute asset to the school’.
The happiness and security of my students is paramount to my teaching. I am a resourceful individual and welcome the opportunity to influence and inspire change. I am able to effectively appraise and communicate ideas clearly with enthusiasm and flair.I have also written and coordinated a series of workshops entitled ‘Communication Skills for Success’ which helped nurture a sense of positive self esteem and to raise confidence levels to heighten personal attainment. For over thirty years I have motivated students and clients far beyond their perceived capabilities.
