Information about Paul

My approach:

My approach to teaching is guided by my belief that anyone can achieve and learn with the right approach, which is why I ensure my sessions are aimed at helping students ‘learn how to learn’ as well as covering the content they need. I am committed to unlocking the potential of each and every child in a supportive, nurturing and engaging way - through the use of personalised learning plans at the appropriate level with individual targets (doing my best so your child achieves or exceeds their targets) and confidence-building skills.

Through my teaching sessions, I aim to ignite an individual’s spark, instil confidence and inspire a life-long love of learning. Ultimately, making learning simple, enjoyable and engaging.

Availability: My availability (currently only ‘on-line’):

Each session will be a focused 50 minutes, with potential time for run ons / chatting etc.

During Covid19 restrictions, slots available from:

Monday & Tuesday - between 9:00am to 11:00am, 1:00pm to 3:00pm and evening 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Weekends - between 9:00am to 12:00am

On-line fee £25 per session KS1/KS2

My fee is based on my experience as a teacher for over 17 years (during which being an Assistant Headteacher, Computing and Behaviour lead), successfully completing a BA honours in Photography (Second class honours - upper division), across 8 years of Media experience with Scottish TV and Channel 4; and since 2016 being self employed: consulting and working directly with schools either in the capacity of Computing advising or short/long term teaching supply cover.

Cancellations:

Any cancellation less than 48 hours ahead of the time and date which had been planned will be charged at the full price. This covers loss of earnings as there is not enough time to ise tuition for another student with such little notice. Notice 49 hours or earlier to cancel or rearrange, I will endeavour to accommodate within both our diaries.

Note (i): I offer an in-depth phone consultation during the first session so that I can provide a tailor-made tutoring experience. Initially, us adults ‘getting to know’ each other and for you to get a feel of who I am, alongside me meeting & chatting to your child - so that they feel comfortable and happy with times ahead. We will also discuss what you hope you child will gain from the sessions and establish realistic and specific goals we want to achieve; with these in mind, I will formulate a plan so that our time together is as productive as possible and we can hit the ground running from the very beginning. I’m more than happy to set homework if we decide it’s appropriate.

Note (ii): I am CRB checked with an enhanced DBS which I will show you before we embark on any learning to ensure your child is safe during my tutoring sessions.

5/5 Rating

Paul has been tutoring my son for a few weeks now and I am really pleased with the help and support he has received. Paul has ensured my son has an understanding of the topic being taught and the expectation of the areas he should work on after each lesson. The lessons are fun and educational and cover the areas discussed. We are happy with the help he has had from Paul and my son is enjoying it too.
