Information about Lia

I am a qualified physics teacher and have taught all three sciences at Key Stage 3 and GCSE, and physics at A-level. I obtained my PGCE from University of West England and graduated University of Bath with a Masters of Mechanical Engineering in 2017.

From my own experiences as a student and as a teacher, I know that science as a subject can be a bit like Marmite - it can either be tricky and daunting or you cannot get enough of it! However with the right guidance and support to understand the material, science can be engaging and rewarding for every student. I have had the privilege of being able to help and inspire students of all ages in the classroom and in 1-to-1 sessions, through my work as a teacher and tutor, as well as through being a volunteer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Ambassador running workshops in Primary Schools and online events.

My tutoring sessions are tailored to each learner and take in account their specific needs, goals and personality. I work with students of all abilities, from struggling with understanding and remembering key science knowledge to those that need that extra push to reach their high potential. I provide teaching or re-teaching of science principles, support for answering written and maths based questions, tips and tricks for exams, and homework to complete between sessions to check understanding (which I mark before the next session). At the end of each session I also provide a copy of the examples and notes I use during the session.

I am a committed teacher who loves to share my knowledge and understanding of all three sciences, and help every learner reach their next level of understanding and confidence.

Please note I hold a current enhanced DBS check.

Availability: I tutor during a mix of days and evenings Monday to Friday, primarily online.

I currently do not have any availability to take on new students.

For online sessions I use video-calling, online resources, and an interactive online whiteboard to make notes and go through examples and questions.

Note: I offer the first hour of tuition HALF PRICE for all new students. This is the "Basic Skills" line in the pricing table (to ensure you receive the correct price on booking).

I am also able to run group sessions for multiple students working in the same year group at a discounted rate per student (each student pays 75% of the hourly fee). I ensure I spend time working with each student in the group separately, provide individual feedback to each student, and mark multiple sets of homework in between sessions.
