Information about Sophie
I am a personable and focused tutor, who strives to create carefully planned lessons that build towards specific academic goals. I am a examiner and qualified teacher with a PGCE from the University of Oxford and a First-Class honours degree in my undergraduate course. I aim to equip students with the skills to tackle their studies independently and with confidence.
Availability: - Available for new tutees on a regular weekly basis. I also offer intensive 3-6 session blocks, where lessons are designed to support a student in a specific area, such as exam technique or a particular aspect of the course.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: In the past twelve months multiple A-level and GCSE students have reached and exceeded their target grades - including one A-level tutee who improved by three grades. Additionally, in the past two years, 100% of the students I have tutored for entrance exams have gained places (including the offer of two academic scholarships) at their target secondary schools.
I began tutoring in 2015, am a qualified teacher and have experience working as an examiner marking GCSE and A-level papers in Religious Studies and Philosophy. I received distinction in all my examined assignments in my PGCE and a first with honours in my undergraduate degree.

Everything is going along swimmingly, or so your thought but a predicted A turns to a C in the A Level mocks and then you panic. Or you turn to Sophie. Sophie has been a lifeline to my daughter who was left confused by her mock exam grade and needed support. Sophie was able to discover what her issues were and work with her to provide an ongoing solution. Sophie is professional, friendly and reassuring and was able to step in exactly when my daughter required help. I would thoroughly recommend her as a tutor.

Sophie has been a brilliant help to my daughter in her preparation for RS A`level. She has given detailed advice which has helped my daughter improve her essays - something she was struggling with. She has also been very helpful and responsive in answering questions following sessions when my daughter wanted to clarify a point or was struggling to understand. I highly recommend Sophie!
