As a graduate with a degree in both French and German from UCL, I started tutoring 15 years ago when my children were preparing for their GCSEs and I realised that I wanted to widen my teaching experience. I typically support students through KS3 and onto GCSE, and am familiar with all the Exam Boards` curricula. I also offer lessons to adults as complete beginners or to those wanting to pick up their language skills from school and learn recreationally. I have used both languages in my career both in the wine-trade and selling plant machinery to Europe. I teach from home in New Barnet on via Zoom or Teams.

Availability: I teach during the week 16.00 - 19.30

I am also available during the day occasionally for relaxed and informal sessions with adults aiming to learn a language or pick up where they left off a few years ago.

Experience: Inspired by the progress of those I teach, my aim is to help students enjoy the languages they are learning. I find it helpful to simplify things like grammar by focussing on patterns and exceptions and I teach, not as a native speaker, but as a language lover who has learned French and German for many years and used both languages throughout my career. I can provide references and testimonials upon request.
I work as Conversation Assistant in both French and German at a local secondary school which greatly supports my tuition work.
