Hi there,

My name is Will and I am a fully qualified Maths teacher via the School Direct graduate fast track teacher training programme.

Since qualifying, I have been assigned a wide variety of classes by my school throughout KS3 - KS5, which indicates leaders` confidence with me teaching a range of abilities.

Furthermore, during 2014/2015, I was responsible for the only GCSE resit class in the town of Worksop. After moving to Essex in 2016, I continued to develop and hone my teaching skill at a high achieving state secondary school in Chelmsford until 2019, culminating in being successfully appointed as a Lead Practitioner with overall responsibility for Key Stage 4.

As a result of the changes to the A-Level specification, I have been one of a handful of members of staff who have consistently been entrusted to deliver this content.

My experience in education has enabled me to:
- spend 5 years working for both a high achieving Academy chain (with results that place them in the top 2% of state schools nationally and in the top 1% of schools for progress between Y7 and Y11) and one of the top non-selective schools in Essex
- work for a school ranked the #1 school in Essex by the Real Schools Guide 2018/2019
- achieve Progress 8 measures at GCSE considered `well above average` (>+0.3)

I have always considered that teaching/tutoring Maths is extremely different from simply being good at Maths. Students will benefit from new techniques and approaches that will help them develop their understanding and reasoning. I have high standards for all my students and my professionalism will help to ensure the best possible results for all. My recent lesson observation was graded as majority Outstanding according to Ofsted criteria.

My main aim has always been to make Maths accessible, relevant, fun, and interesting. I have been told throughout my 8 years of teaching that I am patient, understanding, and am able to break difficult concepts down into easier, smaller segments.

During lockdown, my wife and I have built, created and developed an educational consultancy named Maths Concierge which the trading arm of connectEDU. Our aim is to streamline the feedback process between schools and parents so that high-quality feedback is received more frequently. Moreover, this approach is something that I adopt for my tutoring clients. Detailed analysis and feedback is offered after each session which ensures that the full time allotted is spent on tuition.

I am a charismatic and personable tutor who bases a lot of emphasis on `real-life functional` Maths - showing students where Maths has application in the real world.

Maths is intrinsically a creative discipline, where students are required to deduce information in order to construct new knowledge. My experience of being a classroom teacher will ensure that this aspect of the subject is always developed.
