Hello, my name is Shalwin and I am going into my first year of medical school at the University of Liverpool. Having achieved 3 A* at A-level in biology, chemistry and mathematics, I am very experienced at teaching students of various ages especially GCSE and A-level students. As a subject ambassador and prefect at school I was able to communicate and understand students very well using my listening skills by adapting and tailoring my teaching styles at enhancing their learning. Furthermore I can assist in relaying information about the medicine application process by giving tips and strategies at securing a place at medical school.

My teaching styles include assisting my students with past paper questions early and going through questions they get wrong coupled with teaching them how to understand the terminology and language displayed from the mark scheme. Furthermore I can give advice about the different ways of memorising information such as making notes and flashcards at improving spaced repetition, enabling my students to solidify their knowledge of a topic for the long term. From my experience teaching I have firmly learnt how to be dynamic in approaching different materials through shortcuts and tricks to memorising information.

Moreover I also teach the 11+ exam and I have good grasp on how to gain marks in the different sections (such as mathematics, English, verbal/non verbal reasoning sections). I have written and passed the 11+ exam and as a result I have studied at a selective/grammar school (Poole grammar school) from 2013-2020 in my secondary school career, therefore I have a sound knowledge on how these exams work as I have taught many students in getting admission into grammar school.
