Hi, I`m Danielle and I`ve been a teacher for over ten years. I completed a 4 year B.Ed (Hons) in Teaching in 2012. I have achieved QTS status and have plenty of experience with one-to-one tutoring.

My priority is to make children feel safe, valued and able to make mistakes because learning begins when children feel comfortable. To do this I am calm, positive and supportive. I ensure to take things step by step, checking as we go that the child understands what has been taught before I take them to the next challenge. I adapt to the personalities and interests of each child and use plenty of visuals as well as real life contexts to make learning meaningful.

One of the most challenging aspects of classroom teaching is being able to dedicate enough time to individual students when you have a class of 20-30 pupils. My favourite thing about being a tutor is being able to focus on one child at a time; really getting to know them and being able to adapt my teaching as they need. The progress children make with one-to-one support is so rewarding to see!

I am currently a private tutor for primary aged children and those in KS3 while I undertake Forest School Leadership training. I am able to offer at least a year`s commitment if necessary and will likely be able to continue tutoring beyond that.

Availability: Monday - Friday, afternoons and evenings.

Experience: Since qualifying, I have taught in a range of local and international settings (in Devon and London in the UK, as well as at Almunecar International School in Spain and British School Muscat in Oman). I have taught across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in schools and have supported children all the way up to KS3 on a tutoring basis. I am experienced at helping prepare children who are preparing to take their SATs and those taking the 11+. I also spent two summers teaching at a school for children with English as an additional language (English Country Schools, Dorset) so can help those for whom English is not their native language. During the pandemic I gained lots of experience teaching children online which has given me the tools and confidence to tutor online.
