Information about Amy
I am a conscientious English Literature Graduate, with a First Class BA Degree from Durham University and an MA in `Issues in Modern Culture` from UCL. I have studied English Literature, History, Philosophy and Theatre Studies at A-level, gaining an A* in all four subjects. I also have A* GCSEs in Maths, the Core Sciences and Spanish.
I have experience tutoring individuals of all ages, including helping with 11+ exams, GCSEs, A-levels and applying to university. I have covered essay planning, issues with syntax, grammar, spelling, essay structure, analysis, formal style - all specifically geared for exam preparation. A flexible tutoring technique has enabled me to tailor my style to each student`s needs, focusing on building up confidence in unsure students.
I am calm, friendly, and organized, with a reputation for being patient when teaching individuals of all ages. I have a very strong work ethic, and find working hard very rewarding. Most importantly, I believe that work should be made enjoyable, as it is when an individual enjoys what they do that they get the best results.
I currently work in the publishing industry.

Experience: I have experience tutoring children as young as eight, but have also assisted with 11+ examinations, GCSE preparations and A-level preparations. I have also done some tutoring for those at degree level. I feel very comfortable offering advice on English, History, Drama, Philosophy and Religious Studies to a high level.

Amy is FANTASTIC! Our son needed some coaching with interview techniques and a little bit of help on brushing up with English Comprehension papers for his Year 7 common entrance. Amy came armed with current ideas/papers and really challenged our son through all aspects of interviewing/debating. She also taught him great strategies in working through his comprehension papers and opened his mind to much more creativity (something he lacked a little bit!). He had 6 hours with Amy over 3 days and he felt very comfortable with her throughout, she was very approachable and completely challenged his thinking. He gained a place at the school he wanted to go too plus an all round scholarship! We highly recommend Amy and will definitely hire her again when our next child goes through the same process!

We feel really lucky to have found Amy. She is firm but fair and provides a good level of challenge and stretch, combined with a kind and encouraging approach. To quote my son:- "Amy`s knowledge and supportive approach are really reflecting in my learning."
