Information about Sarah
My aim is to offer a highly personalised child-focussed service to meet the needs of the student using a variety of learning styles and resources to suit the indivdual learner. Having been to Medical School, passing the entrance examination for Oxford University, I have excellent subject knowledge and, as I currently work as a teacher of science and maths in an Outstanding College in Northampton, specialising in learning disabilities, autism and mental health, I also have experience of working with students who find learning more challenging. Also having over 20 years experience working in a variety of state schools I am familiar with the different exam boards.
As a mother myself I understand the unique needs of each individual child and I have been described by previous students as `caring, warm and approachable`. Please read my reviews for further comments from students and their families.
I am willing to travel a radius of approximately 5 miles from Wollaston but please contact me if you are outside this radius as I may be able to accommodate your needs. I am also able to tutor at my own home. I am willing to offer group sessions at a slightly higher charge per hour (up to 3 students as any more would lessen the benfits of individualised teaching).
On demand constantly updated CRB certificate available to check.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I am an experienced teacher and tutor with 20 years experience of teaching mathematics and science.
I have taught in a wide range of secondary schools and one primary school. I am currently working with young people with special educational needs, ASD and learning difficulties. I have previously taught all age ranges and abilities at key stages 2-5. I have also taught A level Biology.
My College had Ofsted inspections in 2013 and 2016. My lesson was observed and given `Outstanding` as did the College overall. We have recently had a second outstanding Ofsted inspection and my lesson was deemed outstanding again.

Sarah worked with my daughter who needed some help with her GCSE sciences. Sarah was extremely supportive and patient with her and really built her confidence. She was very reliable and approachable, and was also understanding when the session had to be cancelled at short notice. My daughter really enjoyed working with her!
