Information about Jay

I am a teacher who is committed to helping students reach their full potential. I am an enthusiastic, caring individual who is genuinely passionate in helping students to learn and reach their full potential. I teach so the student really understands the meaning behind what they are learning. This is vital so they can then apply this in real life situations.

I graduated from Warwick University and achieved `Outstanding` in my PGCE teacher qualification. OFSTED awarding my teaching `outstanding` too this year after watching several of my lessons. I have tutored a variety of children from varied backgrounds. I have a 100% success record in tutoring children to pass their 11+, and 2 of the children I tutored finished 1st and 5th overall in the Rugby High entrance exams. I have also tutored a lot of `catch up` sessions for children across a variety of subjects, successfully turning around one girl`s level 3s to level 5s in English and Maths last year.

I have been a Teacher for 12 years and a personal tutor for 9. I have excellent subject knowledge of the primary frameworks and the 11+ examinations. I have worked on both the SEN and gifted and talented policies for my current school, so can teach to a wide spectrum of learning needs using different techniques to help children learn. I also have a maths and science based degree, and am currently the science subject leader at my current school.

My main skills lie in the motivation and engagement of the student and being enthusiastic about working in any situation towards any desired outcomes.

I am a firm believer in the every child matters policy and understand that every child learns differently using different methods. In my initial meeting with the student I would assess their gaps in knowledge and assess what level they are currently working at. I would then put an individualised working plan together for that student so they had aims and targets and understand what they need to do to achieve. During each session I would use many different methods of teaching and varied tasks to ensure the students concentration/enjoyment levels remain at a high level.

I have a valid CRB certificate.

Any questions feel free to ask.
