I have been teaching for 25 year and am currently Head Teacher at a SW London Prep school where the children move onto a wide range of selective senior schools at 11+. Children feed into all the top London day schools and boarding schools out into Surrey and beyond. I know what the schools are looking for and the type of exams they host for 11+ entry.

Availability: I am available throughout the summer whilst schools are on holiday and then some availability during term time. Available weekends particularly during term time.

Experience: Geography Degree B.Sc. PGCE Primary Age range, IAPS member. I have spent 10 years teaching in the state sector and 16 years in the private sector, the last 8 as Head Teacher of a co-educational prep school in the competitive SW London market. I consistently feed children into the top senior schools at 11+ but life is not simply about reaching academic height. Often children benefit from an increased self-esteem and confidence as they go through the 11+ process and realise how and why they are improving. The secret is to empower your child to be proud of the progress they are making, tackle 11+ head on with confidence and reach ever higher. The answer is not simply fill them with answers to get through exams. The majority of schools these days try and set papers that are increasingly hard to tutor for - and rightly so. The secret is to give each child a tool kit of skills with which to tackle any exam they do whilst ensuring they are accurate, calm and focused in such high pressured situations. Enjoyment, creativity and empowerment lie at the heart of a successful 11+ journey with supportive parents, a good balance of work and realistic aspirations that match the child and the schools. Invariably, excellent support heading towards 11+ helps to heighten those aspirations.
