I am an enthusiastic, caring and highly skilled teacher, rated as outstanding by Ofsted. I live in North Yorkshire with my wife and 3 young children. I have 20 years` experience in education and was Deputy Head of an outstanding secondary school for many years. I currently work in Higher Education where I train teachers and specialise in education and learning. I am a young 44 years old and have a real passion for my subjects. I am now focusing my tutoring on the entrance exams for Skipton schools but will also consider other work.

I have worked in secondary and primary schools for 20 years, teaching English, drama, music, philosophy and ict. For 9 years I was a senior leader, with 5 years as a deputy head in a large outstanding state school, where I was responsible for the curriculum and exam results. I have a detailed understanding of the entire secondary curriculum. I was a county advisor at both primary and secondary level. I have been assessed as an outstanding English teacher. I have been a Head of Drama in 3 secondary schools.

I believe in the coaching approach. I aim to help students to answer their own questions through developing their problem solving skills fostering a deeper understanding as I do so. I aim to build trust and rapport with my students so they feel comfortable and ready to learn. I am always willing to go the extra mile for anybody who needs it and simply will not give up on you until you have mastered the subject. My reviews will tell you that I am always successful in raising grades, giving you real value for the time and money you invest.
