Information about Cameron
I am an outgoing individual and like to engage with other people. I received A*s in both pure and applied mathematics at GCSE level. I took both Maths and Further Maths at A-Level and got A`s in both subjects. Currently, I am a first year undergraduate at the Royal College of Music. My first study is Cello, my second study is piano and I am in the highest set for music theory.
Availability: I am available on Saturday`s and Wednesday afternoons.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: When the occasion arose I would help tutor my younger brother in maths. When I was taking Further Maths I helped A-Level math students with topics they were struggling with. From these experiences I learned the importance of breaking down a problem. Many problems in maths are far less intimidating when you know the structure to the solution.
Another crucial factor I have observed from helping other people is attitude. Math may obey strict logic, but we are emotional beings. Being able to remain relaxed and calm when encountering tough problems can be the difference between solving the question completely or getting half marks. An exercise I use to help build confidence is having the person I`m helping teach me how to solve a problem. If they can do this, it means they have a solid understanding of the concepts in the problem. This boosts their confidence.
