Hi everybody!

My philosophy is to enjoy learning and to have a good relationship with your learner. I never believed in berating somebody into getting something done. As a tutor, it`s about being friendly, approachable and working with the needs of the individual. I also take pride in my ability to make somebody laugh so that could be a good or a bad thing!

In 2019, I graduated Lancaster University with a 2:1 in English Literature. The majority of my work was obviously in Literature but I also took modules in Film, English Language/Linguistics and Business Communications. A bit of versatility to break up the status quo.

After graduating, I became a qualified TEFL teacher and worked in Shenzhen, China, teaching English to a variety of age groups. My main classroom was made up of 3-4 year-olds but I also held classes with older children and adults. I managed to learn a small amount of Chinese as well, however, I would not recommend my services in teaching Mandarin! Unfortunately, I was unable to continue my work in China as a result of a pandemic called the coronavirus. I don`t know if you`ve heard of it?

I absolutely love to deconstruct narratives, fiction and non-fiction, which probably explains my love for journalism.

Currently, I write and edit for VAVEL and VAVEL Media. As an editor, it`s my job to push and develop my team of writers to make sure they are doing the best that they possibly can. I have taught them about how to write efficiently with flair.

I have interviewed the likes of Phil Neville, Jordan Nobbs, Clive Tyldesley and Ian Darke for different projects on different websites. This illustrates my confidence in spoken communication and makes me adept at teaching spoken English skills. I have also been podcasting for over a year and was on the management team of Bailrigg FM, Lancaster University`s own student radio station, for two years.

In short, I think I am somebody who can unlock the potential out of anybody. I have taken on the role of the teacher on many occasions and the results are always positive. Two writers who I have worked with recently were kind enough to leave me recommendations on LinkedIn!

Underneath, I`ve quickly summarised what I might be able to do for a whole range of groups:

- Primary: Have led a classroom made up of 3-4 year-olds in Shenzhen. Can teach all subjects confidently.
- Secondary: Confident on technique for all written subjects. Can also teach Mathematics.
- A-Levels: English Literature, English Language, Journalism, Film (Best). Can teach technique and flair for any written subject.
- Degree: English Literature (Best). English Language, Film, Journalism (Highly Capable).
- Adults: Tutored English to Chinese adults in Shenzhen.
