Information about Nina
I believe that a collaborative and personalised approach is key to my students` success. I easily establish a rapport with students, which enables them to feel confident exploring concepts and sharing ideas with me. Building positive relationships also allows me to better understand each student, and I tailor my lessons to their learning style and needs, a skill that is particularly beneficial in my work with SEN students.
I have a strong academic background, having achieved A* in English Literature, Biology and Psychology A-level, as well as grades 8-9 in all GCSEs at Higher tier. While I have experience teaching most subjects up to GCSE, my main focuses with students are English and the sciences.
The sheer amount of content in science GCSE can be overwhelming, and my top priority is to break it down, finding creative ways to make concepts click. I am equally comfortable with paring back to the fundamentals of each subject and stretching my students understanding to really reach for those higher grades. At A-level, my teaching of Biology is comprehensive and dynamic, and Im also happy to throw in some extra info for my fellow nerds!
I find teaching English essay structure to be an integral concept that is all too often neglected in schools. Having recently completed my exams, I understand the stress that coursework can bring, and I am happy to focus on taking it to the next level. I also frequently zone in on specific works, finding ways to demystify them and pique my students interest, no matter the level.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring both in person and online for two years, primarily in English up to A-level, and all sciences at GCSE. However, I have also assisted with 11+ preparation, and general lessons for KS3 students who need that extra confidence boost in their abilities. Im most familiar with AQA and Edexcel sciences and AQA GCSE English/OCR A-level, but always happy to take on new exam boards!
