Passionate, creative and caring teaching, promoting a love of learning!

I believe that nurturing a love of learning is key to enabling success and meaningful progress. Children who love to learn are confident, resilient and joyful in approaching challenges. As educators we need to be our children’s biggest advocates. It is our duty to provide students with the skills and tools needed to succeed and meet next steps, so that they can feel confident in their own abilities. Achievement and progress is unique to every child, as every learning journey is different. Great teachers are there every step of the way, providing the strategies needed to overcome challenges and new concepts, but they must also be there to celebrate even the smallest success. My favourite part of teaching is when my students learn to believe in themselves and fall in love with learning. When they are not discouraged by mistakes because they know they can overcome them, with a teacher who supports and believes in them. That is when the magic happens and they exceed their own expectations. That is why I became a teacher.

I have detailed insight into the EYFS and National Curriculum for KS1 and KS2. As a Year Group Leader, I adapted and developed new teaching and learning initiatives (such as the Learning to Learn initiative) which are still used in school today. I enjoy exploring educational theories and often explore how they can further improve teaching and learning. As class teacher, I introduced assessment and evaluation procedures linked closely to the Leuven Scales of Involvement to ensure consistent provision across year groups. Having worked closely with specialists, I have established support systems for children with additional learning needs. In 2016 I started working as a private tutor and was inspired by the personalised learning experience this one-to-one approach to teaching enables! I have also helped students prepare for 7+, 10+ and 11+ exams in local schools.
