Information about Rebecca
I am currently a 5th year medical student at Oxford University. Last year I graduated from Cambridge University with a B.A. in Natural Sciences, obtaining a 2.I (specialising in Pathology). I went to sixth form in Berkshire and obtained 4A*s at A level (Maths, Biology, French and Chemistry) and have experience tutoring from primary school up to A level standard. In addition to this I am more than happy to help with applications to medical school (personal statements, UKCAT, BMAT, interviews).
My approach to tutoring will be very unique to the learning style of each student and the subject. Broadly speaking I would hope to focus on particular topics the student was having trouble with, going through explanations, examples and then checking the student could answer questions correctly independently. I also like to highlight that independent study is important alongside tuition, in order to reinforce lessons learned in sessions and encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning.
Availability: I currently live in central Oxford, but have a bike so would be able to travel within cycling distances. I am very flexible with the times I can offer but weekday evenings and weekends would be best. I may be away for a few weeks this summer but will be back in Oxford full time from mid August.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I have tutored privately one to one sessions in A level Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Food Technology as well as some GCSE level science. I have also provided reading help to younger children with dyslexia. I was an English teacher on a summer camp in China (2013), teaching 6 classes of varying capabilities as well as providing pastoral support.
