Information about Salma

I am an outgoing and positive primary school teacher currently teaching Key stage two.

I believe that every child has the ability to make progress and for them to do this it is important for their needs to be catered for.
The reason that I decided to become a teacher is because I enjoy learning and love to support others.

Availability: I am available at the weekend, both Saturday and Sunday and some weekday evenings.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: Along with teaching I have decided to tutor as this gives me another opportunity to utilise my time effectively and to be able to build a positive relationship with tutees on a one to one basis and understand their difficulties in a more indepth way.
By doing this not only means that they will receive the relevant support, this will also help with their confidence to work independently.

Prior to becoming a qualified teacher I worked within the school environment for a few years gaining experience supporting teachers and other staff.

This is when I knew that I enjoyed working within this environment.
I have worked with children that have various difficulties really giving me the opportunity to understand that each child is different and adapting different strategies to complement their way of learning.

I have also worked in a finance environment for a number of years which allowed me to develop my inter personal and management skills.

Along with teaching in a school environment, I regularly support members of my family on a one to one basis with their school work.

What I offer:

When working with a child on a one to one basis during tutoring, their route of success will depend on their needs.

This will begin with understanding the area they require support with and creating a suitable plan. This may be discussed with the parent, however the child will still receive an overview. The overview is dependent on the number of sessions booked in advance. If this is a lesson at a time, this will be discussed a lesson at a time.

Children will often have worksheets to complete and this will be discussed during the session. This then gives children an opportunity to highlight any other areas for improvement and is also a strong visual aid for children to see how far they have come.

On some occasions children might want to move on to another area after a lesson or so, depending on progress they have made in an area this may still be a focus for a number of lessons to make sure that they are confident.

Most of the time, I will bring support aids with me, however often children/ parents already have English guides or books that they would like the children to use during the session. I am happy to have a look at this and utilise this in any way that I also see fit.

Children will be asked at the end of the session what they feel confident on and asked after a number of sessions, what they understand better.
