Information about Paula
After teaching in primary schools for 13 years I have decided to move into private tutoring as I find it extremely rewarding. I make sure that students are comfortable working with me and build their confidence so that they have a `can do` attitude. Working 1:1 gives me the ability to find out where they need most help and make sure they have a secure understanding in these areas as well as moving them onto a deeper understanding. Seeing these students understand and move on in either maths or english is a delight to see.
I would also like to work with both children and adults teaching them to speak, read or write in English.
I have complete knowledge of what each year group targets are for the National Curriculum. Making my lessons interactive and enjoyable is important and I have a wealth of lesson plans for this.
Finally I know I can help your child progress in their learning. I also know from experience how to help anyone who wishes to learn the English Language.
Availability: I am available daytime, evenings and weekends.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have been a qualified teacher for 13 years, teaching in both KS1 and KS2. In the last few years I worked in a school as a qualified Reading Recovery Teacher which is a program specifically designed to work with children who are struggling with reading and writing. I also became the Head of the EAL (English as an Additional Language) department. This involved helping bilingual students from beginners to advanced by giving them extra support in English and Maths.
