BONJOUR,

My name is Fabien. I am a native French tutor and a dialect coach with a QUALIFICATION TO TEACH FRENCH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE from ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE (D.A.E.F.L.E). I speak Italian and have a BA in Russian language & civilisation. I`ve also studied Japanese and Chinese Mandarin.

I am familiar with language teaching methods and I can tailor my lessons according to your objectives and fields of interests (General French, business, law, scientific, art etc…).

On top of my language teaching I also work as a DIALECT & ACCENT COACH for actors within TV, Film and Theatre. I coach mainly Russian and French accents. (See below for more information)

HOW DO I STRUCTURE MY LESSONS:

I build my lessons through a communicative approach maximizing the use of the target language. Teaching all levels of the European Framework (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2)

My lessons are usually task-based and centred around practical functions. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in a very progressive way and always within a context.

During each lesson we will always work on four different skills such as speaking, listening, reading and writing (usually for homework) using a great variety of teaching materials reflecting real-life situations.

I can also help you with diction and elocution through accent reduction techniques.

Each of my courses will aim at:

- Improving your listening and conversation skills
- Explaining grammar rules with cognitive methodology
- Introducing new vocabulary using specific learning methods
- Enhancing your writing, speaking and listening skills

ACCENT & DIALECT COACHING FOR ACTORS

I specialise in French and Russian accents, both in the target language or in English with those accents. I can also coach other foreign accents such as Italian and Japanese. Please contact me for any other languages.

When teaching an accent I place a great emphasis on developing the speaker’s detailed awareness of the precise physical actions which make up speech.

I usually start sessions with a quick warm-up followed by a brief anatomy of the vocal tract through an active observation of specific physicality.

I use the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) during lessons and on the handouts I provide. Though students are not required to know the IPA, I can teach it as a useful tool as lessons progress.

Sessions will be focused on how to acquire accents through the study of four main points:

People, Posture, Prosody & Pronunciation

New skills can be practiced directly on students’ texts or from the material I provide.

You don’t need any prior knowledge in accents or language skills to successfully master an accent with me. I will tailor a course according to your needs and abilities.
