Information about Gwen
I am a caring and understanding person who has developed a good relationship with hundreds of children and parents over my many years of tutoring. I realise that children have to feel comfortable with their tutor in order to learn to their full potential, and I always strive to achieve this.
Availability: I work Tuesday to Friday from 3.30pm.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I trained to be a primary school teacher back in the 1970s but never really enjoyed class teaching. After having my two children, I was looking for something I could do from home and started with a bit of tutoring in 1991. This fairly quickly snowballed into a lot of tutoring as I discovered how enjoyable it was working 1 to 1 with chidren across the primary age range and being able to give them my undivided attention. Much of my work has come by recommendation.
The bulk of my work has been with children preparing for the Bexley and Kent 11+ selective tests. I have seen a lot of changes in the tests over the last 25 years, but have kept on top of the changes, building up a wide range of practice papers to use. I am also happy to work with children who just require a little boost with their work, be it English or Maths or both.

Gwen is a lovely tutor who put my son at ease as he was not looking forward to doing more work, however, she makes the session fun so its not seen to be (more) homework. She has increased his confidence and he now looks forward to the hour sessions with her.
I would recommend Gwen to anyone who was looking to get their child that little bit of extra help!
