I’m May - owner of The Knowledge Nook and a fully qualified primary school teacher with a First-Class (Hons) degree in Primary Education with Maths Specialism, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and six years of tutoring experience.

Every session is led by me, a passionate local tutor who pours a whole lot of heart into every session. I don’t outsource or use other tutors, so you’ll always know exactly who your child is working with. I’m fully insured, enhanced DBS-checked, and experienced in supporting a wide range of needs and abilities.

After spending several years teaching a mixed Year 5/6 class, I stepped away from the classroom this Easter to focus fully on tutoring. I’ve always loved teaching, and I’ve found so much joy in working with children 1:1 and in smaller groups, where I can truly personalise learning and help them grow in confidence at their own pace.

I offer both 1:1 and small group sessions (max 4 children), keeping things small, personal and engaging. Sessions are designed to build confidence, support progress and make learning something children genuinely look forward to.

What I offer:
- In-person tuition for ages 7–14
- Support with Maths, English and other core subjects
- 11+ Kent Test & SATs preparation (including mock exams)
- Bespoke home education sessions
- Variable prices depending on whether 1:1 or small group as well as time of day.

Each session includes:
- Detailed feedback with a clear breakdown of what we’ve covered
- Optional homework to consolidate learning
- An optional weekly reading book to take home
- And plenty of laughter, encouragement and confidence-building every step of the way
