I am a History and Government & Politics post-14 tutor, educated to higher degree level (BA Honours History & Politics 2:1 1999 & MA Diplomacy, 2000).

I have a PGDE (Merit) at Level 7 from Liverpool Hope University. I also have a Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) certificate, and a full DBS which I can bring along to appointments.

Based in Cheshire West & Chester, I am willing to travel across the Borough and across Merseyside and the Welsh border area, for evening and/or weekend tuition. I am also available on during daytime on some weekdays.

In addition to my teaching experience, I am an active political campaigner and have worked voluntarily as an election agent, as well being a former parliamentary assistant to a Labour MP for half a decade in the House of Commons, in addition to having been a civil servant at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

I can therefore provide learners with invaluable industry sector experience of working in the legislative and executive branches of government and employability advice which I have done for several years as a Mentor on Lancaster University`s Careers Programme, as well as bringing to the table my expertise in political campaigning.

In my spare time I enjoy listening to classical and popular music, reading fiction and non-fiction, going to the cinema, visiting museums and galleries and playing badminton.

Experience: I have periodically since 2011, and concluding last spring prior to going full-time for my teacher training course, worked as a private tutor for clients studying AS/A2 History and Government & Politics with both AQA & Edexcel syllabuses/specifications.

In addition I have taught History/Politics in further and higher education settings.

I have also been a guest speaker for humanities & social science students from Lancaster University and the University of Chester, both on campus and at the Houses of Parliament.
