Information about Lian
Hi, my name is Lian and I currently work at an inner London Secondary school as an Assistant Headteacher.
I have been teaching AQA A-Level Psychology, AQA GCSE Sociology and AQA GCSE Psychology for 8 years.
I have attended many seminars led by experts at AQA and have applied to be an examiner in 2024.
I will work to provide online sessions to support students with content, assessment objectives, essay structures and exam style questions.
Teaching in a secondary school and working in both middle leadership and senior leadership I have been able to grow my expertise in regards to subject knowledge, learning styles and habits and exam preparation. I scaffold and support students that need extra help and I stretch and challenge students that are excelling within my subjects.
Making cross curricular links is an essential part of learning and many students take more than one social science subject which makes the teaching and learning of subjects such as research methods easier and links can be made between the subjects taken.
Social sciences also allow for comparisons to be made to the real world and students often do not realise they can use real world examples in their exams!

Experience: I have a BSc in Psychology and have been teaching A Level Psychology (AQA), GCSE Psychology (AQA and Edexcel) and GCSE Sociology (AQA) for 9 years.
I have worked in Pupil Referral Units and my last post in an inner city secondary school was as Assistant Head Teacher with responsibilities for behaviour and attendance.
Prior to this I worked as a head of Year and Head of CPSHE.
I have attended many courses with both Edexcel and AQA in regards to the teaching and assessment components of their courses.

My son has recently started Psychology tutoring with Lian, and he is really enjoying his sessions so far. Lian tailors each session towards my son and his needs, tests his understanding and sets him extra work to do in his own time. She is extremely patient and knowledgeable, and my son has gone from not enjoying/understanding Psychology to saying it is now his favourite subject! I would highly recommend Lian as a tutor!

Lian has been tutoring my daughter for the past two months. Unfortunately, my daughter had not been doing very well in school due to a number of issues within the school, hence she lost out on 4 months of learning. Since Lian started teaching my daughter, her confidence in the subject has grown and has been able to catch up on lost topics. Lian has gone above and beyond and has been supporting me to raise issues with the school and has offered further support and guidance to me. Thank you Lian , your help is very much appreciated.

I would recommend this tutor. She is very helpful and knows her work. My Daughter lost her confidence in herself and had given up but just after one session with Lian, she was ready to go again. She had her Confidence back and was ready to face her future.
