Information about Allana
Hello I`m Allana, a freelance tutor, advertising account director and online content writer, with a passion for theatre, arts and culture. My happiest places would be on a beach, on a mountain or at a festival!
I was fortunate enough to study at St Paul`s Girls` School which is one of the top rated private schools in central London and then to follow up with a 2:1 degree from the University of Edinburgh. My degree was in English Literature and History of Art which neatly marries my passion for art, visual language and creativity with an ability to be analytical and articulate yourself succinctly. I also spent a year studying abroad in Canada at the University of British Columbia (ranked #3 in Canada in 2020).
I studied Maths, English and German at A-Level and feel strongly that the balance between numerical, analytical and creative gave me a really strong grounding of education. I love the rationality of Maths and the discursive nature of English and find that tutoring both side by side offers myself and my tutees a balanced approach to both subjects.
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I have over 10 years experience of tutoring one-to-one across English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning for primary school and on occasion up to GCSE level. My main areas of experience are in preparation for SATS, 11+ and 13+ entrance exams. I am flexible to each student`s learning style by creating my own resources and practise exercises, and am comfortable teaching in different ways to ensure the best results. I also have experience with children with both learning and behavioural difficulties as my sister is autistic and I was involved in her therapy programme for many years.
I have also taught in a mainstream secondary environment as a boarding housemistress for three months as well as volunteered for a local primary school in order to boost their resources to provide individual reading support to reception age children.
