Students should be learning all of these skills from Year 4 onwards. They need to be independent learners and they need to be focused and learn how to complete the skills and at speed.

You should be aware that Higher Math papers now contain a good proportion of A` Level Math so if your child is not a very strong Mathematician they should sit Foundation level.

Even if you do not wish for your child to sit the 11+ there are key skills that need to be improved upon and focused on at Primary level in order to pass the SATS exams in the May of your child`s Year 6. Whether you agree with the KS2 SATS exams or not - is not important, sorry. Secondary Schools use these exam results as key elements to understanding your Childs ability and as Primary schools are often failing the students in reporting their abilities accurately; or failing to support them individually in areas of weakness - tutoring on a 1-2-1 basis is therefore very important to ensure that your child is supported properly and is receiving the one to one teaching that they truly deserve.
