Information about Jane
My academic experience is varied with a BA Politics Durham, PGCE UEA Primary, Grad Dip Psychology Sheffield Hallam, Dyslexia Action training. Before taking my PGCE I held varied administrative, finance and computer positions in a numbers of companies.
I have worked as a private primary tutor for about 13 years, helping with special needs, particularly dyslexia, SATS preparation and private school entrance exams, as well as general KS1/2 Maths and Literacy. I previously spent 10 years working with school refusers in all key stages, helping to reintegrate them into school. I have some experience with Asperger`s Syndrome. I am also qualified to teach adult learners to Level 2.
I am a relaxed and experienced teacher and understand the importance of confidence for children`s success.Over the years I have been tutoring, I have built up a large selection of resources, so I am able to easily tailor my sessions to the learning styles of individual pupils. I am very happy to liaise with schools if this is helpful for children.
I have worked both at primary and secondary level, but specialize in primary tuition and dyslexia support.I have pupils who I continue to support when they move to secondary school, if I feel continuity of support is important for their success.
I am happy to provide help for KS3 pupils who suffer with dyslexia. In this case, I take a broad spectrum approach which concentrates partially on basic literary skills, but also seeks to help children understand how their mind processes information differently. By understanding this difference pupils should be able to start finding learning strategies that help them learn more effectively.
