Information about Rihana
I am an experienced teacher with a wealth of experience (over 25 years) in teaching pupils working below age expected in reading and writing including children with special educational needs. These have included pupils who are dyslexic, autistic, speech & language difficulties, hearing impairment, dyspraxia, working memory difficulties, anxiety, ADHD and children who have emotional needs.
I am able to offer tutoring to children between the ages of 4 and 12. I have taught in primary, secondary and special schools. I have also been a Specialist Teacher for a local Authority in London advising schools on best practice for SEND pupils. A specific area of focus in my teaching has been raising the attainment of pupils working below age expected in reading and writing.

I have also completed numerous CPD courses these have included achieving Level One in British Sign Language, Makaton signing, SCERTS, Bereavement Awareness, Covid- 19 First Psychological First Aid Training, Understanding Impact on Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences on academic achievement, Carol Grey comic strip conversations, emotion coaching, managing anxiety in children and strategies to improve self-esteem.
Availability: I am available Tuesday and Thursday evenings. I can also offer Saturday morning tuition.

Experience: As an SEN teacher I have ensured my lessons are well structured and include the use of visual aids as well as incorporating a multi- sensory approach. I have used widget symbols (specialist resource) to further support understanding of language and tasks to be completed.
I have also used assessments to identify needs and gaps in learning. I have produced personalised learning programmes for children ensuring maximum progress. A key focus will also be teaching children specific strategies to use within their learning enabling your child to improve their confidence and self-esteem and to incorporate these skills in their learning in school.
