Medical student offering support in Biology and Chemistry for aspiring Medical, Dental student as well as other health allied courses. My teaching style is all about ensuring you have a good understanding of the topic before moving on, I aim to do this using modern learning techniques like active recall and spaced repetition, with the goal being to ensure maximum knowledge retention. These strategies are proven to work substantially better than the old-fashioned lecture style teaching which is still employed by so many teachers and tutors today.

The sessions are tailored around you and your specific needs, but one thing I ensure, is that we build on existing knowledge, as oppose to revisiting topics you’re already comfortable with. I aim to run sessions parallel with the specification to make sure you’re learning the subject to the exact standard that is required of you in examinations. I do this by making sure each point on the specification of that particular topic is ticked off before we move on. I also focus on knowledge application as I appreciate just how important this is in the current examinations, I do this by using plenty of past exam questions and breaking these down to ensure you’re scoring maximum marks where possible. I also use your higher education aspirations as a guide to contextualise the knowledge and show you where this knowledge is applied in your future studies. I also give guidance on how to revise effectively and create useful revision materials like flash cards and mind maps, as a very common trap for students is to simply copy out a textbook.

Experience: I am currently a medical student at Peninsula Medical School. I have extensive knowledge of both Biology and Chemistry, as well as Business Studies. I have previously taught both GCSE and A-level students privately and helped them achieve their fullest potential and secure places on health allied courses, for which there is a lot of competition and the standard of applicants is exceptionally high.
