I have a very wide range of teaching experience over the last 32 years, from primary to post-graduate level.

EFL, IELTS and BUSINESS ENGLISH: I like to enliven the structure provided by the best textbooks with a range of course materials I have developed myself.

GCSE AND A-LEVEL ENGLISH LITERATURE:

I like to combine very close reading of the texts with a profound knowledge of the historical and biographical context. I am a published author, currently working on my second book.

GCSE and A LEVEL HISTORY: I have a degree in Modern History from Oxford University, where I specialised in the 16th and 17th centuries. I have also taught 20th century history extensively.

GCSE and A LEVEL FILM and MEDIA STUDIES: I have an MA in Video from Middlesex Polytechnic, and in the past have been an award-winning documentary maker for British television. I therefore like to combine my knowledge of film and TV from inside the industry with my academic understanding.

Availability: I am available online via all apps by arrangement during both weekdays and at the weekend.

I am currently teaching custom-made short courses in media on a regular basis and am writing a book on smartphone video. I have taught practical media to adult students around the UK and in Tokyo.
