*****ONLINE TUTORIALS - Corona virus update: I also offer online tutorials using skype and online collaborative whiteboard software. With this we can simultaneously write and solve equations using a stylus and discuss the ideas and problems. When I write something it appears on your screen and when you write something it appears on my screen in real-time. This can also be done entirely on browsers so you do not need to install any new software so we can get started with just a couple of links.

Strong 1st in Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London, PGCE in Secondary Mathematics with Distinction, valid enhanced DBS certificate, A*A*A*A* A-level. Experience teaching in schools and tutoring individuals.
Availability: Sunday-Friday, 10am-8pm

Experience: I have tutoring and teaching experience from GCSE to degree level in maths, further maths and physics, both one-one and to small groups with more limited experience tutoring larger groups.
Many students struggle with physics and mathematics having wrote learnt techniques or formulae without understanding what they are using. Understanding the underlying principles behind useful formulae: reduces the need for memorising, allows for more competent use and more general application. Not only that but, naturally it is a more enjoyable and rewarding way to learn. Tutoring offers the opportunity for students to ask questions where they might not have had the opportunity in class and can get answers as part of a discussion.

James tutored our son on A level Maths and physics. He managed to bring him from C/D performance, respectively, to A (nearly A*)/B in his actual A Level results (and his school had a very challenging and comprehensive assessment programme - the toughest of any I know of during Covid!). His calm nature and practical approach, teaching both gaps in concepts as well as practicing questions was very effective. We highly recommend him. Thanks so much, James!

I am very grateful to have had James as my tutor, he is both passionate about the subjects he teaches whilst being attentive to detail. I have never felt any judgment when asking questions, and he is willing to go the extra mile for his students. Within my year with him I saw results quickly, not only achieving higher grades but also feeling more comfortable with my subjects and gained the ability to critically think through theories due to tips that he always integrated within our lessons. James has really been helping my daughter grasp some key A-level concepts by working through different topics and looking at how she would be tested on them in the exam. My daughter finds Maths generally quite difficult and James has helped by explaining things in detail and going over a concept again if necessary until understood.
