Information about Erica

SCIENCE TUTOR - Gap Year Student

I am currently taking a gap year in order to apply to study medicine at University. During my time at home, I am interested in tutoring children up to and including GCSE age in Science (physics, chemistry and biology), preparation for the 11+ and science or mathematics for primary school children. I studied the sciences (and maths at AS level achieving a B grade (maximum grade is A) during my time at St Olaves Grammar school for my A-levels and achieved AAA. I attended Newstead Wood School for my secondary years and achieved only A`s and A*`s.

I will study the specification you or your child is currently studying and determine, by asking and assessing, which topics need the most attention. Past papers and questions will be supplied in paper and online form in each session and homework will also be set to be marked between sessions (unless unwanted).

I am excited to begin tutoring and if you have any questions please contact me.

Availability: I am available on tuesdays, wednesdays and thursdays from 16:00 until 20:00.

Willing to travel: 4 miles

Experience: I have lots of experience of working with children including my current job which is working in my local primary school as a teaching assistant. A large part of my role is to sit with children who require extra help and so I aim to help them engage with the work and enjoy it.

I have volunteered at Brownies for 6 months and have a six year old sister and so have learned how to effectively communicate with children and know methods to interests them in the work.

Last year at Saint Olaves School I was the leader of the schools Biology Club and also mentored a GCSE student in Chemistry, improving their test grade from a D to an A, showing my dedication, enjoyment and ability in teaching and learning.

I have safeguarding training and also have First Aid training.
