Experience: I have an English degree which I obtained for both personal and professional reasons as English is a huge passion of mine.
I have experience working with children in both a primary and secondary school setting. I teach KS2, KS3 and KS4 English to children in their own homes and specialise in children with special educational needs. This year I had a 100% pass rate for all my SATs and GCSE students, including a year 10 student with severe dyslexia. Further to this I have worked in secondary schools supporting children from 11-18 with SEN needs, across all of their subjects. I have also supported EAL students in English lessons.
The children that I have worked with in schools have had severe emotional, social and behavioural difficulties and though it is extremely challenging at times, I have established positive relationships with these children and have seen a positive correlation in both their behaviour and social/emotional skills and wellbeing. I can build positive relationships and be a good role model and influence for children who have had a bad start in life and have had to face many challenging situations.
I have excellent literacy skills and have taught small groups of children in numeracy and literacy intervention classes that I prepared and delivered some of the children in my groups had severe cases of autism and ADHD and I saw a dramatic improvement in all of the children that I worked with in these groups.
I am friendly and approachable while always upholding a high standard of professionalism.
I also understand the principles of child development and I am currently learning more as I am studying neuroscience and educational neuroscience for my master’s degree which covers child development in depth.
