Information about Areeba

I`m a fifth year dental student at Queen Mary University of London, I received A*A*A at A level in Biology, Psychology and Chemistry. Biology was my favourite subject at A level and I have learned it in even more depth through my university course. This allows me to help any students who want extra help with the subject as I can break the information down so it`s easier for them to learn and apply to exam questions. Being a student and having sat A Levels recently myself, I know multiple learning methods and use them to ensure lessons are really effective. I sat the AQA A Level Biology exams in 2019 (last exams before Covid) and made condensed notes which I share with my students during their first lesson. As I have been tutoring since my A Levels and I sat the exams myself, I have become very familiar with the mark schemes and know all the tips and tricks needed to get full marks.

Tutoring Approach
I first go through topic with my student, where I share my screen of my own notes (or they can open them up as they will have access to them) and go through the content. This allows my students to ask any questions and clarify anything they don`t understand. Throughout reading notes, I ask recall questions to my students to ensure they have understood the content properly. I like to repeat any questions they find difficult so they memorise it more and feel more confident with it. I then go through exam questions where my students can apply the knowledge they have learned and I talk through the mark scheme with them. When going through the mark schemes I go through patterns or key words they can learn to ensure they always get top marks. I am flexible to go through the whole syllabus in a systematic way or only work on topics most relevant to the student. If the student has a different approach to learning which works better for them I am happy to adapt to their needs. I like to ensure my students feel comfortable with my tutoring style and that they know it is okay to make mistakes because learning from them is the best way to improve and move forward. I provide my own set of notes for the whole syllabus to the student in our first lesson and also use my lab book notes to help with understanding for Required Practicals. My first lessons are always 25% off so the student can see first if they find the lessons useful and I am also available to tutor over the summer to help the student get a headstart for the next year.

Availability: I am available on most evenings, and weekends. On request I can see my availability during the day in weekdays. I am available to do 1hr/1.5hr/2hr long lessons.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I have been tutoring since I have been in university and I mostly tutor students who follow the AQA exam board however I have tutored OCR students in the past. Having studied for the AQA exams and tutoring it for so long, I know the tips and tricks of how to answer questions in the way that will gain the most marks and can share these tips with my students when doing exam questions. At university I am the course representative for my year group which entails voicing any academic problems the students may be having.
