Information about Emily

I am particularly inspired by teaching young people, and enabling them to find confidence in their voice and their thoughts. Teaching the subject of literature allows me to discuss themes, characters and topics with the students and to engage them in debates about how the world is changing through our perspective of reading a literary text.

I am a confident teacher and tutor who has aided a lot of students in excelling top grades in their GSCEs, A-levels, IB, and undergraduate courses.

Alongside my teaching, I have been directing theatrical performances with my award-winning theatre company, Collide Theatre. I have been assisting directing on productions in big theatres such as HOME in Manchester and Bristol Old Vic. Finally, I have been running educational programmes and facilitating workshops for The Old Vic, the Barbican and HOME.

Availability: My schedule is very flexible.

Experience: I was born and raised in Athens, Greece and moved to the UK six years ago. After scoring top grades in my IB diploma I got accepted on the BA degree in English Literature at UCL. My BA in Literature has equipped me with a very strong academic background and an expertise in commentary writing, structuring essays, analysing poetry and prose. Following my graduation from UCL, I got accepted on the highly competitive MFA in Theatre Directing at Birkbeck College, University of London. My Masters and my theatre career has offered me very good communication skills, which have enabled me to be a curious and enthusiastic tutor.

Working as an academic tutor for Bloomsbury Circle since January 2019 and for MyTutor since July 2019, has equipped me with the ability to focus on an individual student’s need, to hone their creativity and to develop their curiosity on the subject of literature.
