I tutor biology, chemistry and physics to GCSE and biology to AS and A level.I am a qualified and experienced teacher offering professional GCSE science tuition and A level biology tuition for students in Thame and the surrounding area.I supply supportive, personalised tuition at my home in a relaxed environment. I teach home-educated students or school students requiring additional support to achieve their potential. My students have all grown in confidence and have achieved impressive results. This summer one of my students achieved an A grade having obtained a C grade the previous year before tutoring began. Another student has gained sufficient confidence in her scientific ability to rejoin the science lessons which she was struggling to attend. Experience: I’m a qualified teacher with an honours degree (2:1) in Applied Science, a PhD in physiology and have 3 years experience teaching in secondary schools in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire and nearly 4 years as a tutor.
I have excellent subject knowledge with a proven ability to communicate effectively across a wide range of abilities.  I cover subject knowledge, concepts, study skills, revision skills, practical write-ups and exam techniques.
Before qualifying as a teacher in 2012, I was a teaching assistant for 3 years. I mainly supported students in maths and science lessons so I have a good understanding of the wider curriculum, pupil needs and of how schools work. Prior to that I worked for Unilever as a research scientist so I also have experience of working in the science industry. I keep up-to-date with science and I am passionate about the subject. I have a lot of experience with children having brought up 2 boys. I am one of the members of staff who accompanied 18 Lord Williams’s 6th formers to Borneo in 2017 for a 3 week expedition. I regularly cover science lessons at Lord Williams’s School. I am a qualified first aider.
