Information about Sumaiyah
Hello!
Thank you for visiting my tutor hunt page and for your interest. I have been tutoring online and in-person for over 5 years (I feel old typing that!).
A little about me...
I have always been a studious individual since childhood, achieving 11 A*-A grades at GCSE and going on to achieve A-level grade awards in History and studying History at degree level. I studied at a Russell Group University, namely; Queen Mary University of London where I achieved a First Class BA (Hon).
After taking a gap year, I decided to pursue an LLB in Law, at SOAS University of London.
Teaching...
I have been teaching for over 5 years, both online and in-person. I have experience teaching younger children both privately and professionally till KS3. I worked in a summer school for 3 years through which I taught English, Maths and Arabic from 3 years upwards.
I have extensive experience with secondary teaching, specifically GCSE support in moving from Grade 5 up to 6, 7, 8 and 9. I have also worked with students with learning disabilities too, working around their needs and any additional requirements.
I enjoy working with A-level students as I know how stressful it is in trying to achieve university entry requirements! I also have varied experience with graduate students from essay help to module support depending on what you`re studying.
Other than teaching...
My day job entails banking law and regulatory frameworks surrounding business banking, not the most interesting part of my life!
Hobbies...
In my spare time, I love to read, I have a deep interest in philosophy which I picked up by accident and also a love for languages, specifically the philosophy of language. I`m also an avid tennis player!
Why I still teach...
I love teaching, if I could; I would most probably become an academic of sorts. I do have a natural way with younger children too, I`ve taught at summer schools for many years and have enjoyed teaching up to degree level. Seeing the difference you can make to students confidence in subjects and progress through their grades is a wonderful feeling!
