I am 36, a mum of two (girl 6yrs and boy 2yrs) and part time teacher. I`m leaving my current teaching post in July to become a full time private / home school tutor. I love teaching but I don`t feel the child is at the heart of education anymore. Too much pressure is put on the teachers and children but there are so many constraints. I believe the child`s well being and self belief is equally as important as their academic ability.
Approach to tutoring I am passionate about providing opportunities for children to learn in a fun, practical way. I have recently led my school in promoting a positive mindset and developing children`s wellbeing, therefore optimising academic achievement. This is at the heart of my teaching. My tutoring enables children to believe in themselves, build confidence and grasp skills that are rushed through (or the teacher is simply too overstretched to address!) in an informal, relaxed, fun environment. I specialise in Maths and English tuition for reception to year three.
Availability: Monday - Thursday 9.30-2.30 and after school
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I qualified with a 2:1 in 2004 with a BA in primary education with early years. I have 15 years teaching experience in an infant school where I now teach part time. I have taught reception, year one and year two so have an extensive knowledge of the early years and key stage one curriculums and assessment. I have lead the maths curriculum at my school for 10 years. I have been private tutoring for a 18 months, which I find thoroughly rewarding.
