Since qualifying as a teacher in 2013, I have been worked in schools full and part time teaching English to GCSE level. I have also undertaken private tutor work, and have a number of years’ experience examining for the AQA exam board marking papers for the summer Literature series. Since taking up tutoring, I have built up a resume of several tutees to date, successfully tutoring pupils through entrance exams (11+ equiv.), KS2 SATS and GCSE English Literature and Language.

A natural people-person, I am able to relate to others on a professional and personal level. Through both paid and voluntary work I have built positive relationships with young people by listening to their needs and interests and understanding their strengths and abilities. My natural enthusiasm for helping others has helped to build and strengthen successful relationships in these situations.

I thrive on the energy created by pupils, and am committed to enhancing and contributing to the success of the young people under my tuition.

Availability: I am available some evening and weekends including:
Sat mornings
Sunday afternoons
Monday daytime and evenings

Experience: I have held positions as literacy co-ordinator, KS3 leader and mentor to trainee teachers since qualifying to teach. Previous to teaching, I worked for a short time as a teaching assistant, as well as spending 7 years as a university student service administrator.

As a qualified English practitioner, I am experienced at teaching KS3 & 4 English Language and Literature, in particular in light of new GCSE specifications.

As an examiner for AQA exam board, I have an extra insight into the requirements for the English Literature exam in particular.
