Information about Caroline
Hi, Im Caroline with a degree in BA Sociology .
I am a Mentor /teaching assistant in an Ofsted outstanding primary school in Hackney. I
mentor children referred to me as having difficulties at home, school and at risk of offending. My duty is to keep the child on track, to work closely with them in class and outside of class. I meet with some every day or every other day, to check in on their wellbeing and anything that may be preventing them from learning or achieving, this can refer to their challenging behaviour or learning barriers. This is a safe place for the children where I create goals and targets which help to motivate them on a daily basis.
I run intervention sessions, which include Lego therapy, speech and language therapy , social skills groups , accelerated reading and teach phonics in small groups. I also facilitate additional studies for low achieving children, liaise with parents/carers where we discuss their childs targets, progress, achievements and general concerns that may affect their academic progress. I maintain student records on behaviour and progress and write termly reports. My long term experience teaching small groups and individuals means I have a great depth of experience creating targeted goals for individual students.
I am a hard working and ambitious individual. My career has been based around primary education and secondary and since 2010 I have worked in 3 schools, supporting younger children and students in core subjects. I thoroughly enjoy aiding children in their educational development and as a result I have developed my skills enough to pursue a career as a class teacher, i will be starting my primary PGCE training in September 2024 .
I would love to share my knowledge further and help even more students achieve their goals, regardless of age and ability.
