I love teaching. I am a qualified English teacher with twenty-five years of experience and a track record of excellent results. I bring a wealth of experience to tutoring, and am an Examiner for AQA.

I tutor individual students for £38.00 per hour.
Two students together £60.00 (£30.00 each)
Three students together £75.00 (£25.00 each)
Four students together £80.00 (£20.00 each)

I have found that students who study in groups motivate each other. They are able to use the ideas in the lessons to go beyond the tuition and help each other study and revise.

Experience: In 1984 I graduated with a B.A. Honours Degree in English Literature and Language from the University of Reading. After working as an Employment Training Specialist in New York, I returned to the UK and in 1993 gained a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status from the Faculty of Education at Manchester Metropolitan University.

I taught English for twenty-three years in schools and sixth form colleges in South Manchester and Cheshire.

I have experience of teaching and tutoring students with a wide range of abilities. Last year my tutees gained places at Manchester High School for Girls and Westminster School, London. Other successes were five of my GCSE tutees gaining the grades they needed to enter the sixth form of their choice. Two gained a 9 in GCSE English Literature, with one achieving full marks on Paper Two. Seeing a student succeed and progress is very rewarding.

Lessons are tailored to the student`s ability and learning styles. Good communication is essential for the tutee to feel confident, comfortable and able to ask questions. I can work alongside school topics or focus on particular skills the student needs a little more help with. I liaise with parents and carers to provide updates on their child`s progress, and spend time with the student reviewing progress and checking learning.

I offer tuition for Entrance Examinations as well as the BMAT Section Three Writing Task. I teach the English section of the 11+ examination (not the Numeracy).
