Information about Beth
I am an experienced tutor and teaching assistant and a native English speaker.
I am friendly, very patient and enthusiastic about helping people of all ages gain confidence and overcome any difficulties they have with their learning. My goal is to make learning an enjoyable experience.
I tutor primary age children and adults (including SEN students) who require extra support in English (including phonics, reading, spelling, writing, grammar and comprehension) and maths (including number work, fractions, percentages and ratio). We will identify what approach works for you, and I will tailor your learning to your individual needs to help you move forward in building your skill level and confidence. I am happy to offer short-term support with a particular problem, or longer-term on-going support if that is required. You will find each lesson enjoyable and focused on what you need.
As a TEFL/ESOL tutor, I am thrilled to see people of all ages and abilities become more confident when communicating in English. I ensure each lesson is enjoyable and helps you move towards your goal. I can help you improve your conversational English, job interview skills, and vocabulary and pronunciation in business English. I also coach for Cambridge English and Trinity College exams e.g. IELTS, GESE and Life in the UK test. I tutor face to face (one to one or small same ability groups) and online.
I also offer a proofreading service (e.g. documents, leaflets, letters and dissertations) at £25 per hour.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have over 17 years experience of teaching English and maths to children and adults. I tutor primary age children, and adult learners, who require extra support and encouragement in the basics of English and maths. All ability levels, including SEN students, are welcome.
I tutor all levels of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) - from children and adults who have recently arrived in the UK with little or no conversational English - to advanced level learners who require coaching for ESOL exams or who want to improve their interview, conversational or business English. I tutor face to face (one to one or small same ability groups) and online.
I am a good listener and will put considerable effort into finding out which teaching and learning approaches will help you achieve your goals. I enjoy simplifying difficult concepts so they can be understood; I also like to encourage, stimulate and challenge, so you will become more confident in your abilities. I tutor from my home and each lesson is a minimum of one hour.
