Information about Mercedes
I am a qualified Teacher from Spain and I have QTS in England (and registration from Scotland) a Religion Master and many courses to be able to work with SEN children. I have a real passion for teaching Spanish and my culture to kids, young people and adults, at all levels and ages. I have a vast range of personal skills such as outgoing nature, team player, good ability to communicate and positive attitude. As a teacher native speaker I have excellent subject knowledge and I am able to teach Spanish to high level and help to develop students` knowledge and even increase their skills and abilities, inspiring, motivating and challenging them. I am a good model of teaching and learning, very creative and enthusiastic about planing my lessons and I have great organisation skills. I design and implement learning experiences that acknowledge and cater for individual learning differences and I have the ability to create a good relationship with all my students and parents. I am also a Flamenco dancer who can teach you more than my Spanish language, I can teach you about my culture, sports, dances, musics, traditions, customs and festivals, food, lifestyle and places to visit in Spain because I have been travelling around Spain for many years. I have experience teaching Spanish in private lessons in Spain, Scotland and England.
Availability: I am working and studying part time, however I can be flexible about teaching. I can teach 1 -to- 1, or small groups, learning at home or face to face.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: Since qualifying as a teacher in Spain and working in this sector in Scotland and England I come to realise that my greatest wish is to teaching my own language in the UK. Firstly, I was teaching Spanish and Flamenco in primary and secondary schools in Scotland as a volunteer and doing extracurricular activities and clubs. After one and half years I returned to Oxford and I have enrolled on TSST, Return to Teaching, and CPD courses as well as having spent a large amount of time reading and researching the exam requirements for the new GCSE and A Level Exams to be able to teach and support my students in all theirs needs. I have working in primary schools, after school club and I have been able to work with a secondary school aged pupils with special need in a variety of school in Oxford. The most recent classroom experience has been working at Endeavour Academy supporting autistic children and gaining knowledge about ASD activities and the difficulties that autistic children face everyday and how this spectrum has different challenges, abilities and symptoms. I also had my placement at the Modern Foreign Department at Cheney School during my Return to Teaching course. On the other hand, I have been also tutoring children and adults for more than 10 years in private lessons teaching my own Spanish language. All this experiences are helping me to feel competent and comfortable working in a new educational environment.Contact this Tutor

Mercedes has been a very approachable, enthusiastic and an inspiring teacher. She has a good range of teaching skills: she is a good listener and is able to explain matters in a clear and interesting manner. She has been aware of my own learning needs and can easily adapt different techniques that can suit my level of learning in a most inclusive way. She is always positive and encouraging which helps building confidence in speaking and understating Spanish language. She makes learning FUN!
Mercedes is an energetic, fun, friendly and enthusiastic tutor. Perfect for my 8yr old who`s learning Spanish. Highly recommended.
Mercedes is an absolutely fantastic tutor. She is very flexible, accommodating, and punctual (for example, attending a dentistry appointment with me before our session as we were in the same area at the time!) I could not speak more highly of her; she made me feel at ease from the moment we met, and we have continued to keep in touch over WhatsApp, where she is always more than happy to answer any ongoing questions I may have about Spanish. In conclusion, I highly recommend her services as a tutor to all levels of Spanish speakers!
Mercedes has been tutoring my 14 year old daughter in Spanish since September 2018. My daughter loves her lessons as Mercedes is enthusiastic and positive and clearly loves to teach. She has excellent interpersonal skills and often stays over the allocated time at no extra cost. She is punctual and reliable and has built my daughter`s confidence with her positive and encouraging attitude. She brings the language to life.
Mercedes is an excellent tutor. Her classes are very relaxed and it is highly beneficial to learn from and practise with a native speaker.
