About me:
I have seventeen years of teaching experience across the entire primary age range and within a range of roles including Class Teacher, Phase Leader and Assistant Headteacher. Other experience includes international teaching; preparation for the Cambridge A1-C2 English exams (children and adults) and tutor training and mentoring. I have also recently completed a Masters in Education with Leadership.
I have taught in every year group across the primary age range and have a thorough understanding of the National Curriculum requirements for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, including preparation for SATs. During my time in school leadership, I developed and led the delivery and assessment of the curriculum across the whole school.
In my tutoring sessions, I focus on building each students confidence, breaking down learning barriers, and supporting them to achieve academic successwhile most importantly, nurturing a genuine love of learning.
Sessions are fun, meaningful, and personalised by making links to real-life experiences and individual interests. I believe children thrive when they can take ownership of their learning. Thats why my students are fully involved with setting goals and helping to choose the topics we explore, boosting both motivation and engagement.
I provide clear, immediate feedback and guide students to reflect on their learning and learn from mistakes, helping them to develop independence and pride. I maintain strong communication with parents, offering regular updates and practical suggestions and/or homework (if suitable) to support learning at home.
I also offer secondary transition lessons in Maths and English in which we ensure a really solid foundation in the primary curriculum before working on key areas of the KS3 curriculum, ensuring confidence and a smooth transition.
In addition, I hold sessions for adults looking to improve their English skills, whether this might be adults learning English as a second language, hoping to become more confident in the language or take a formal qualification as well as those looking for help with written work such as CVs, letters etc.

Hayley is a very good and caring tutor, but at the same time firm and consistent, which has been exactly what my son needed. She is extremely hard-working and has taken the time to thoroughly understand my childs individual requirements. Hayley has shown excellent commitment to my sons progress, always taking full control of his learning journey and providing constructive, continuous feedback that helps him grow. She is patient and flexible, consistently adapting her lessons to build on his strengths and keep him engaged. I really appreciate her balanced approach, combining kindness with high expectations. It has made a noticeable difference to my sons confidence and development. I would highly recommend her.
