Ahoj, my name is Ondrej, welcome to my profile!
I am a native Czech teacher with 6 years of experience and a very good understanding of English language. I specialise in teaching all levels of Czech on one-to-one basis (via Skype), mainly to native English speakers.

Experience: I began my teaching endeavors shortly after I had moved to London in 2013. It started innocently, as I only wanted to use my spare time to learn something new, but it has since grown into a business, thus I am now a self-employed, full-time teacher...and I love it!
It has been an interesting journey so far and an amazing experience for me, personally. Thanks to my students, I have gained a completely new perspective on my mother tongue and I have also had a chance to shape my knowledge of English. Studying psychology at the Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic) has also proved to be invaluable as I learnt a great deal about our mental faculties - how our memory, motivation, or learning strategies work. I have also been very fortunate to teach a lot of interesting people, and covering all grammatical concepts with different students meant that I had been able to fiddle with various approaches when explaining them, gradually getting closer to an ideal way of facilitating your learning progress.
Combination of all these factors has helped me seeing the subject through my students` eyes and it led me to backing my experience scientifically, too. The lessons, and the whole studying program that I offer, are therefore tailored accordingly.

I started learn Czech 3 months ago. I already know Russian and it definitely helped to learn faster, but also Ondřej was very flexible and adopting to my learning speed. We spend a lot of time going through similarities of grammar and words with things I already know and it made me feel much more comfortable with language. Ondřej has much more experience teaching Czech to english speakers, so I was kind of exception. But even with not very much practice (currently I speak only at my lessons), I think I will be able to speak to locals on my trip to Prague next week.

It is one thing to have a good command of English language, but it is of course a completely different matter to teach it somebody else. Which was a dilemma I was facing when I was looking for an English tutor for my 16-years old son. Although my English is reasonably good – (I hope!) – I am totally unable to explain it to others.
As such, I consider myself very lucky to stumble upon Ondrej’s profile - unlike some other candidates I interviewed for the position, Ondrej was able to accommodate my son’s needs very well (he was almost a complete beginner), create an enjoyable and supportive atmosphere for learning, explain things in unambiguous manner, and structure a purposeful methodological plan to follow. Initially he was giving him face to face lessons twice weekly for the period of 2 months, later they switched to an online method, having lessons once weekly via Skype for around 12 months.
The progress my son made under Ondrej`s supervision is simply phenomenal, currently he can enjoy fluent (though fairly simple) conversations with native English speakers and feeling confident while speaking in English, which is certainly more than I thought can be accomplished in such a relatively short space of time.
Though Ondrej’s first language is not English, he speaks almost with no accent, which I personally found quite remarkable. Wholeheartedly recommended.
