Information about India

I am currently undertaking my Masters in Dramatic Writing at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. This is a very competitive course that only allows 8 students on to the cohort, and requires a variety of skills; including an aptitude in writing for performance, a background in theatre and a First-Class Honours at undergraduate level. In 2019, I graduated from Bristol University with a First-Class Honours in BA English Literature and one of the highest marks in my cohort for my Dissertation. After graduating, I returned to London for a year and began my own New Writing Theatre company which I continue to run remotely in Bristol. I also worked in freelance editing for fiction and non-fiction, which has assisted me in my editing skills when helping students with essays and coursework. I have now returned to Bristol to complete my Masters, and am excited to take up tutoring again alongside my postgraduate degree. I adore tutoring and am passionate about helping students to achieve the results that they truly deserve. Over the years, I have also held long-term positions as a nanny and an occasional home-school tutor. References from my employers are available on request. I look forward to hearing from you and getting stuck into a great term of work!

Availability: From 9-6 Mondays through to Wednesday, and then 9-5 on Saturdays and Sundays.

Experience: As someone who has been tutoring from the age of 16, I can safely say I have refined my craft as a tutor, and I have been able to solidify my methods as a teacher into a process that seems to work for both myself and my students.

As a tutor, I pride myself on my patience and the positive, encouraging relationship I build with my students. Whilst working for MyTutorWeb, I was asked to assist on a specific incentive to provide intensive tutoring for students who were from disadvantaged backgrounds, and who had found themselves at failing schools. In this instance, I was often confronted with students who were uninterested in learning, and who had lost a drive to try and achieve the grades they were capable of. Throughout this time, I would like to say I garnered the skills necessary to encourage and motivate children who were the most unwilling to cooperate; which has set me up for every other student I have encountered since then. I am a strong believer in structure for a child when it comes to tutoring. I personally like to compile lists that we will tackle together and that we can tick off. It’s about turning a tutoring session into a ‘win’ for the student, something that they are gradually succeeding in working through, rather than them seeing the additional help that I give them as an indication of their failure in the subject.

I can confidently teach English Language and literature from any age up to a 1st-year university level. I have experience in helping students to write their personal statements, in all subjects I studied at A level. I can teach Theatre and Performance from any age up to A level and am well-versed enough in the subject that I can aid drama students in their applications to study at a university level. In history, I am confident in the modules I took throughout my A level course. These ranged from Russian history: from tsar Alexander II- Gorbachev, the Elizabethan period and Nazi Germany. However, I would probably only feel comfortable enough to teach this at GCSE level, as I have not revisited the subject since tutoring it in my first year at University. Lastly, I am able to teach Spanish up until GCSE level, particularly with younger students who would like to get the fundamental basics of the language under their belt. I have helped students to get into the grammar schools of their choice, have assisted in tutoring the eleven plus and have successfully helped students secure offers from universities such as Manchester, Exeter and Edinburgh.
